10 THINGS NOT TO BE MISSED

06. Gerediaga Campa Foral

01

Symbol of the founding of Durangaldea

This was the site of the important decisions made regarding the 12 elizates that came together to form Durangaldea. The Gerediaga Campa Foral is currently the oldest parliament building in Europe.

Come and sit on one of its 12 stones and travel back in time to a bygone era!

02

Conjunto juradero

The Gerediaga conjunto juradero is formed by the San Salvador and San Clemente Chapels, the Campa Foral, the oak tree and a renaissance calvary.

The representatives of the elizates that made up the region would sit on the stones in the Campa Foral, with each stone representing one vote. The towns of Durango and Elorrio did not form part of the Merindad (or County) and only participated occasionally during what were known as the ‘Assemblies of the 14 towns’.
