The Passion of Holy Week

The Passion of Durango is a staple of the town’s Holy Week celebrations. This re-enactment, which began in 1993 by a group of local residents, was created to revive this traditional event. Over 100 people voluntarily take part in the production and performance of the Passion.

International Dance Day

Topa-Klown

Zornotzan Jai Alai

Zornotzako Jai Alai is a three-day pintxo competition held in late May or early June, and it has become an important event in the local culinary scene.
Merindad Day

Merindad Day, organised by Gerediaga Elkartea, is a commemoration of the governance model in place until 1875, highlighting its relevance and value even today.
Emakumeen bira

Emakumeen Bira is a women’s cycling race that was declared a professional event in 1992 and has since become a high-level competition.

JUNE
San Antonio de Padua

The 13th June is a big day in Urkiola, with thousands of people gathering to celebrate the Feast of Saint Anthony at the Urkiola Sanctuary. It is a lively occasion with cultural activities, music and various festivities.
Haizetara
Where: Amorebieta-Etxano

Haizetara is an international street band competition organised by the Amorebieta-Etxano Town Council. For three days, bands from all over the world fill the streets of the town with music and joy.
Dantzari dantzak eta aurresku erregelak

On Saint Peter’s Day, once the ceremonial tree trunk known as donien atxa is raised, the dancers take to the square for the final rehearsal. This rehearsal acts as a warm-up before the main dances on the big day of the festivities.

Dantzari dantza eta aurresku erregelak

When: 25th July
In Garai, dance is a deeply rooted tradition among its residents. On Santiago’s Day, 25th July, and on Santa Ana’s Day, 26th July, a traditional dance exhibition takes place to celebrate these occasions.
